4 Basic Steps on How to get most of your Online Lectures

Welcome to my this week's blog. For those of you who don't know me,I am Sanpreet Kaur, Final year Medical Student in Dayanand Medical College , Ludhiana.

As we all are stuck in this unavoidable situation of CORONA PANDEMIC with no other option other than attending classes online which has taken a major toll on our study schedules and techniques, so, being a student, I always felt the need to know how to get most of my lectures in class and how to study it.

I literally wasted a lot of my time but finally found some amazing, foolproof strategies to make the most of my time.

I often wondered about some questions like:

Do I need to make Notes?
Do I need to study from books alone?
Do I need to combine notes and books together?
Do I need to make my own personalised notes from my books?

So, with four years of my Medical College, I have understood and devised various strategies, which I consider as very important for my study routine, to get the most of my online College lectures.

So, Let's get started.

1. Get a timetable/ Schedule Pic for a particular subject.

  • Get it from steno or take a pic or whatever. You need to know what topic is gonna cover in that very class.
  • It will make your subconscious mind aware of the topic and you will be mentally prepared .
  • You will be gaining more confidence by knowing the things that the Professor is teaching.
  • This will help you stay motivated and confident.

And ultimately you will find yourself grasping more from that lecture as compared to usual days.

2. Read the Topic before going to class and underline the things you feel important.

  • Watch videos from your coaching institutions or YouTube of that particular topic.
  • Just be thorough about the topic before even attending the lecture.
  • Underline the things you feel important.
  • It will help you grasp more in the class and helps to gain more confidence.

3. During Lecture.

  • Just keep the book you refer for that particular subject along with you while attending the lecture.
  • Check out the things you have underlined. You won't even realise but you have revised the whole topic again.
  • It will help you strengthen the topic in your mind and it will stay in your Photogenic memory.
  • You will remember various concepts taught  in the class while going through the topic later which you must have forgotten if you have listened and not read the topic before and during the class.
  • Take notes and add it on your book only. This will save your time later to open any note book where you have written the notes.

4. After Lecture.

  • While studying at home, give a thorough and fast reading to the  topic and I guarantee, it's gonna stay in your mind for so long and you can recall it without much effort.
  • Apply Rote memorization technique about which I will be talking in my subsequent blogs.

And at last, maybe for once in the lifetime we have got this golden time to strengthen our skills. Let us all make the most of our time and invest this time in self improvement and being the best version of ourselves.

That's all about the strategies I used. In case you have something extra and creative strategies to share, I would love to know that in the comments section.

Happy Learning!!
